Chris's In the Hospital

I received a note from Gwen late last night but didn't see it until this morning.....

Just got home from a long day at the hospital. Chris started getting pain in his low back on Friday and it got really bad over the weekend. I called the ambulance this am as he was in such pain couldn't get out of bed. They have run tests, Xrays etc. Today but no conclusions. They are keeping him in tonight and will schedule a bone scan tomorrow

She did say that he's getting some IV pain meds to help which I'm sure is a blessing since anyone who's ever had back pain can relate.

Please keep them both in your hearts and prayers and send some positive healing thoughts.

Hopefully they'll know something more later today

Thanks for all the good wishes folks. Another looong day at the hospital. Tomorrow they are taking Chris by ambulance to Nanaimo [about an hour away] for the bone scan. Took them a couple of days to get it organized. In the meantime although the pain meds via intrevenous are keeping most of the pain under control, it is making him very nauseous so not eating much. Just what he needs right now when we were beginning to get his food intake up there!! This afternoon he seems to be developing an itchy rash as a side effect of one of the new meds, I feel so sorry for him poor dude. He is still in ER as they have no beds available so not sure how long that is going to last. The only good thing is the medical staff there are fantastic. They are run of their feet but somehow seem to manage to keep a sense of humour and keep on top of things. I take my hat off to them.
I am so tired this evening, just gonna get the essentials done and then get my jammies on.

I hope the scan will find the cause of poor Chris's pain. Gwen please take care of yourself, you have to be the strongest lady i have ever known. I love you and Chris a whole bunch. Hope you can get some rest.

I just noticed this and am filled with love and hope for Chris' recovery from this pain in his back. I'm hoping it's just that he rolled over and snapped a bone like I did and that it's something that will heal with time. I remember how excruciating the pain was and what I wouldn't have given for the IV drugs he has, although the nausea isn't something he's appreciating, I'm sure. I'm sure he's not looking forward to the trip for the bone scan and the jolting around he's sure to have to endure. I will pray that it's not too bad.

Gwen, you are so strong for your husband. The love you have for each other is what keeps Chris going, I'm sure, when he'd like to just scream with frustration no doubt. The guy just can't seem to catch a break these days. I sure hope there's a bed for him when he gets back to the hospital tomorrow. Those stretchers in the ER just aren't made for laying on any longer than necessary, especially with a back problem.
