. Last Dec, I bought my one son an ASUS A53E-XE2 15.6" laptop computer. Fully loaded and ready to use for his future college course needs. At that time, we also bought ASUS Extended Warranty - that includes break/fix and accidental droppage coverage for 2 full years. It was pricy but being a laptop (and knowing my son's slippery fingers LOL!), we bought their expensive extended warranty as well.
A few weeks ago, my son starts complaining its power port was loose and it would't keep itself charged. One could tell its power port (on its motherboard socket) was split. Me thinks my son accidently dropped the laptop on its edge, which drove its power cord connector too deep into its side port. Last week, we called Asus Support and we shipped our laptop to them last Friday morning. Now, we're thinking its gone for 1-2 months. To our surprise, we received his laptop "at our door" this afternoon. Not only did they fix its power port, they also replaced its screen. Its original screen had a few leaky pixels (which some computers have) but we didn't metion this condition. Within7 days (from door to door), Asus Warranty folks replaced its mother board, replaced its missing rubber foot and replaced its flip up 15.6" HD LCD screen. This "no charge to us" fixings easily covers the cost of the extended warranty cost.
If looking for a laptop and you also have slippery fingers (like my young son), do consider buying the Asus Extented Warranty package as well. Glad my son had this extended warranty on his college Asus 15.6" Windows 7 laptop....
Hope this helps others....

Wow....that was quick Spike. Yes, for some things extended warranties pay for themselves.

Thanks for sharing that, Spike. I bought an asus netbook when they first came out and I was just delighted with the experience. Good to know that the extended warranty worked out well!
