Hi all -- I haven't been online for almost a week. I'm spending most of my time at the hospital with wife Rita who has been hospitalized since Tuesday.
She seems to be coming around pretty well and they want me to place her in a rehab facility full-time. I will let her enter there for as long as I can afford it. Last time she was scheduled to go to a rehab she raised holy H - - - and we had to cancel it. I hope she co-operates this time, but . . .! -- Vic

Sorry to hear about Rita. I'm sorry Peter but I don't remember her story. Perhaps you could tell me more? I'm sending healing white light to surround her.

Ahhhh Vic.... You work so hard at looking after her and I know it's not easy with your having COPD on top of it all. I take it your insurance or whatever coverage you have, doesn't cover it? Perhpas even a "short stay" would be beneficial? I surely hope she agrees to it for both your sakes. Sandy.... this might help refresh your memory...philns.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=thoughts&thread=9599&page=1#78282Sarah will be by Ad Vic; for both you and Rita...... Please keep us abreast when you can.....

Hi all -- Just dropping in to say Rita may be moved to a Re-hab Home tomorrow -- not for certain yet, but a good chance. I am absolutely exhausted and I need a good day off. I'm so slow that it's getting rediculous. Thanks for all the wishes and prayers. -- Vic

Hi Vic, Sending prayers that Rita will get help at re-hab home. It sounds like that would be the best place for her right now, and give yourself a break. Take Care & God Bless to both of you.

Hey Vic;
Been awhile now and we've not heard anything .... and with the storm (Sandy) and where you live it's an added concern. Would you let us know how you and Rita are doing please. You've been on my mind; and I've also had inquiries about you two from others.
I truly hope Vic that maybe Rita's home now or will be soon?

Vic, I've been in the hospital and rehab myself for the past month and this is the first I've heard about how Rita is doing. I am so sorry you are going through such difficulties and hope that things are better for you both now. But as Jackie said, Sandy the hurricane did such destruction in NYC that it leaves us with even more concern. Will be watching for new information about you and praying that things are ok with you and Rita. I can only imagine how difficult it is for you to care for her and yourself as well and know how much you must have needed her to go to rehab. God bless you and keep you safe,
Love, Sue

Hi All -- This is my first time on-line in dog's age. Rita was transferred to Rehab Home 6 days ago and was doing a bit better and yesterday she passed out while eating in the dining room and they rushed her back to her room, where I was waiting to visit her, and three nurses and a doctor imediately started working on her, gave her an injection of something and hooked her up to O2. Her BP was 66/55. After about 10 minutes of trying to wake her up, they let me try and after a few pats on the cheek and saying "Rita, it's Vic, wake up" she came around. She was sent back to the hospital for evaluation and they re-admitted her. I'm on the verge of a breakdown. Thank God for Alabama, that was where the power crew was from that gave me my lights back (They came all the way to Long Island like Angels of Mercy). -- Thanks all for thinking of us -- Vic

It really troubled me y'day when I saw Vic's post. It really did. I've known him for a bit as have some of you. Vic was one of the first COPDer's I got to know and has been a "buddy" ever since. Anyway; I spoke with him this morning before he headed to see Rita. As of y'day they moved Rita back to Rehab. I won't go into many details, but he is wiped/exhausted. He hasn't missed many days believe me (except for when the storm hit and he couldn't get there) He had also lost power for 3 1/2 days Vic and Rita were married when they were 19. They've been married now 58 years. That in itself is amazing! And; right now he's missing her believe me..... He tells me that once they get her walking again, she can come home. He feels she's lost some ground quicker than she should have but; the Dr's feel that it might be becasue of some of the meds she's been on; including some heavy duty IV ant's. We're praying Vic, for both your sakes, that the folks at Rehab are good at their jobs and soon she'll be at home with you where she belongs! And..... YOU stay healthy!

Went to see Rita yesterday and she was actually smiling . . haven't seen that in a long while . . it made me smile too! That hasn't happened in a long while either. They have her back doing walking exercises and they tell me she is showing improvement . . I sure hope so, I so want her back home where she belongs. Thanks again everyone for all your wishes and prayers . . they are truly welcome and appreciated. And a special thanks to our Wonder Woman, Jackie for her special caring and for calling me all the way from Nova Scotia. God Bless you all in this trying time. -- Love all, Vic
