I had to stop using the Zenhale yesterday and switched back to Symbacort. After 10 days or so the zenhale stopped keeping my lungs open. The lungs slowly started to plug up/close up. I was not able to cough anything up.
I switched back to the Symbacort when it came time for my next inhaling and it started to open my lungs up fairly quickly. .

Hey Guys...I just got out of the hospital from a fungal pneumonia that created heart failure and needing my mitral and Aeortal valves being replaced with Mechanical ones. Long and short they had put me on Atrovent as I have read most emeergency rooms used and it was not doing much to help my ashtma during my recovery. I had a couple of Zenhales at home from prior to my heart failure and decided to try that in place of the Atrovent and what a night and day transformation. From short of breath to just going to the bathroom and having to use my Ventolin avery coupld of hours to a whole night with no shortness of breath and not using my ventolin at all.
Dr's for the most part as there are some good ones are the most arrogant breed of people I have ever met and they are so closed minded. I was at a heart function clinic yesterday and my chief complaint at this point was my SOB and my asthma and they not once questioned being prescribed the Atrovent and consider using my past control drugs such as Zenhale and Sympicort. But does that surprise me, they also don't ask a single question about my nutrition either so no surprise people end up in chronic states of decline. I am from Canada and our health care system really has become a joke.

I'm sorry to hear you've had such a rough time Geoff. It sounds like you have basically asthma?
I can't comment on the pneumonia causing the heart failure (w/o doing some research)though it would seem to me you may have already developed cardiac problems beforehand....
Do you think it's possible that the additional frequent bouts of SOB may have been due to the heart problems you were having? It certainly can/does happen (goes hand in hand).

Today I was switched from Symbicort to Zenhale, and to stop using the Asmanex and Bricanyl. If I need a rescue I'm to use up to 2 more doses of the Zenhale. I'm to stay on the Singulair and Daxas, and Spiriva. My numbers went up with this last spiro, and we are switching things up to see if this will work with less drugs. I go back in 6 weeks again to evaluate. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hope it works for you Mary. You are going out of town tho and away from the hospital. Take ALL your inhalers etc...even the old ones you are switching. Just in case. You must be doing something right if your numbers went up. Good for you.

My Dr. gave me a sample to try sometime ago and I really liked it unfortunately it is not yet covered under Alberta Blue Cross - I am waiting for the day - I really like it. The only problem is that one really needs to keep track of the number of doses because being the same type of inhaled as Ventolin - it is hard to know when it is empty and my pharmist tells me the water test is not accurate. I have taken it for a year now. The inhaler used at Shoppers has a meter on it starting at 120 then subtracts each time you depress the container.

I don't think it has been approved in Australia yet, I searched Google and Government's PBS site, but came up with nothing.

Jackie I am on Zenhale now, and have been for 3 months. It has replaced the Symbicort and Asmanex that I was taking. So far so good, I have still had to use the Brikenel ( sp) for rescue though. My other meds have stayed the same, Spiriva, Singulair Daxas. Zenhale doesn't have new drugs in it, just old ones on a different combination. I hope this has been helpful,

Best ask the druggist...if they have that info. I would think that the Symbicort should be fine.

Has anyone had a big weight gain while on Symbicort or Zenhale? Also before when I didn't have any other meds except Ventolin I was gaining weight so I'm wondering if its the meds or the disease or something else.

Good to know about all the new meds out there as we all know that our disease is always changing on us. Thanks

My pediatrician prescribed this puffer for my 15 month old. Two puffs twice a day of the 100/5. Nervous because she is so young and all the warnings say not under 12 years old. She has been on it for a month. Helps her breathing but I see a huge weight difference between her and her twin. I am very concerned!

Is anyone on this med? First time I heard about it was today.... My dad started this medication after a scarry bout in the hospital and at home of severe shortness of breath and crazy high heart beats like 220/110..he is usually 180/80..he is 84 years young.. he is diagnosed with copd for a few years now,, other puffers are usually his go to help,, this time doctors said it could have been a virus that we had to simply ride out.. the lung clinic prescribed zenhale and it seems to help him asap and over last few weeks , getting better.. we just read up this should not be taken long term and are now considering trying to remove it from his daily use as it is said to be a last resort medicine,,exactly the predicament we were in.. on a natural note we are ordering the halosence salt inhalator as a long term solution, have been using essential oils in the gennie burner and lots and lots of fresh ginger, lemon and honey teas.. this combination seems to have brought him back to normal.. and i may say,, i should have said first, the genuine prayers to god above who did the healing for him..i hope this helps someone,,god and tlc seems to work best/

Lennie-I have to use disc as the regular inhalers have something I am alergic to in the delivery; ask your dr. I realize that not all inhalers can come in disc form but it doesn't hurt to ask; I believe they are more expensive but it keeps the hoarseness and sore throat away. Yes Dave - good for you for reading the directions sometimes even the pharmacist forgets to tell us when we get new stuff how many times & how to use it. There was a show on Marketplace this week in Canada about how pharmacies are falling down on the job because of quotas etc. Dr's are just as bad. Everyone have a good breathing day!

I take the highest dose, 5/200. All it is, is a flovent, and ventolin, mixed together. But apparently doesnt stop asthma attacks, well it does, and lasts longer than ventolin.

I don't have COPD, I have asthma...I used to take Pulmicort and I wanted to switch to an aerosol 2-in-1 (bronchodilator & steroid) inhaler as I like how it fits in the mouth...I take Zenhale 100/5 (1 puff) every 12 hours and I feel fantastic!...I can really tell the difference in how my chest and lungs feel when I go walking...I've been going for some fairly long walks recently and I love it...plus there's a number indicator on the back side of the inhaler so you know how many puffs are left.

You need to get this on record because you are the first person to ever be cured of emphysema.

This is a massive troll pain in the arse that is posting all over the net....They google different COPD questions and then inflitrate the original forums and those groups that are not private.....There was even one that actually joined a private group and then only posted about Salt Therapies....till she was warned....never seen her since . Stem Cells are another one with a few appearing legitimate and friendly but are clever in the fact they try and influence others to try using the cinics in SCA n Florida or Mexico at a stretch... Zenhale was approved in Canada in early 2011.[5] Dulera was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States in June 2010.[6] Zenhale's marketing application was voluntarily withdrawn from the EU due to the manufacturer's inability to provide additional information in the necessary timeframe. Not used in Australia...
