My brother's name is Wayne and he is 60 years old. He lives in Canton, North Carolina. That is close to Asheville.
He has prostate cancer and it has gone into the bone. So he really needs the prayers.
Doctor did say he might can have him cured in about a year. He has a long way to go. I don't know what kind of treatment he will get. I know he got two shots in the stomach and will take hormone pills to battle the hot flashes he will have.
I will keep y'all informed on the progress.
He didn't have any insurance because he was healthy and didn't figure he needed any. So he scrambled to get on Obamacare and made it just in time. Probably saved his life.

Thanks, John.
I really have my hopes up that he will be cured. A man in my Sunday school class said his brother died of prostate cancer this week so not every makes it. It is still a serious cancer.

David my brother had it, he is going to be 59. He went through chemotherapy, and his numbers went down, so far he's very well as far as the cancer, and he has a prescription for medical Marijuana, he's very happy about that! . So by March 18th new dispensers will be going up here, so far I've heard of 3 they are building. Myself I don't take any of that. But Goodluck to those who do. Hope it helps I pray. No more pain g or you're brother or mine!!

I talked to my brother tonight. He has seen the oncologist and will start Chemotherapy this coming Monday. Doctor told him the cancer is in his hip and spine and butt bone. He will never be cured and the cancer will always be there. They hope with Chemotherapy he will go into remission. Radiation is the last resort.
Maybe they might find a way to cure it in the future but right now there is no cure for what he has. Once it gets out of the Prostate and into the bones then that is it. You can't get rid of the cancer.
So he has accepted that and hopes he can get it into remission. Maybe they will find a cure in the future.

David, Both Wayne and You are in my prayers. I hope all goes well and that Wayne reaches remission as quickly as possible. (before you said that it was expected to take a year--is that still the projected time?) BTW; from what I have read Dr's won't use the word "cured" when dealing with any cancer because there isn't any way for dr's to know if all of the cancer cells are gone or not (as we all have cancer cells in our body); instead Dr's use "partial" or "complete" remission. My prayers for the 2nd.

That was the first doctor who said he could be cured in about a year. Then he went to the oncologist and he said the cancer was to much in his bones. Hip, spine and butt bone. That doctor said the cancer will always be there. My brother will never be cancer free. There is no cure at the moment. Maybe later down the road, but once it is in the bones there is no way to get it out. He just hopes to get the cancer into remission. Eventually it will probably kill him. He is getting his house in order.

Hi David, my heart goes out to both you and Wayne, you sure have a hard row to hoe at the moment. I guess all you can do is take it a day at a time, just concentrate on making it through another night. When in a dark tunnel. all you can do is hope that there is light at the end. Please say to Wayne from me, he is in my thoughts.

My brother goes for his first chemo treatment tomorrow, Monday. I talked to him today and he says he will have one treatment every 3 weeks for 13 weeks. Then he will see what his numbers are. If still high he will continue chemo.
He has a positive attitude and says he is ready to hit this head on. One day at a time. Hoping for the best.

My brother had his first treatment today. He said everything went fine. Feels like he had nothing done to him. He feels good.
I asked him did he have a port but he said he has good veins so the went through the veins. I remember my Mom had bad veins from have her breast cancer so she had to have a port for her chemo when she had pancreatic cancer. She never did the chemo and had Hospice called in.
So the first treatment went well and he did not get sick. I am sure the first dose was probably a light dose.
Another treatment in 3 weeks.

My brother's hair is starting to fall out so he got a buzz cut today. He goes for his second treatment one week from tomorrow, Monday.
He did feel bad about 3 days after the first treatment. He said he had aches and pains for about 3 days but no nausea.

My brother had a good report from the doctor visit today. Doc said his white blood cells looked good and that was amazing to be so high. Other test showed all his numbers to be good. I don't know what the doctor test but it was all good.
Doctor told him the reason he had all that bone pain last week was because he injected something to expand the bones and that was what made him ache and hurt. It wasn't the Chemo that did that. Since his numbers were good then the Doc want inject that into the bone at the next Chemo treatment. Just give Chemo.
Doctor said do you need more pain pills and my brother said no, he hasn't taken any of the ones he has so he has plenty. Doctor is really amazed at how he is coming along.
