I just got off the phone with Junaita (dd). She was in town with/visiting Hugs over the weekend..... and Hugahusky (Susan) is in the hospital; went in y'day to the Cobequid Ctr, tsf to the Infirmary, and today transferred to the VG Hospital. She has a collapsed lung the lower portion of the right one I belive). They have a drain in. She's in the ICU step down unit. This is the 2nd time in less than 2 months for her I believe.... Anyway; I thank Juanita so very much for letting us know.... TY lady! She sure could use some prayers please. Hugs lives alone (with her dog) She's had big time problems with balance, not been working for a bit now, had a lung (partially)/ recently collapse; now this again...... I hope to go in tonight, if not, then tomorrow. Juanita's says to tell them I'm a cousin to get through. which was very kind..... of course I'll bring the rest of the family from here too if you don't mind.... If/when I know more; I'll share... meanwhile.... She could use your love and prayers, love and fellowship please....

Oh dear, poor Hugs. I didn't realize she was all alone...I know I wouldn't be able to live alone myself so it must be awful hard for her, especially during times like this when she's sicker than usual. Thank God for Juanita; she is a real friend to Hugs.
Many healing thoughts and prayers for Hugs. I hope she's not in too much pain and is released soon. But to go back to an empty house? I will pray about that, too. A companion who lives with her would be a life saver.

Add my prayers to for Hugahusky to inflate the lung and find out why it happened so it will not do it again. I don't know about going home alone. Do they have a Red Cross that could help with a list of who can be hired to spend the night's or more, like Dorothy got.

Well... gotta tell ya something. D and I visited Hugs for a bit this afternoon. She's in the ICU step down unit still at the VG. This is gonna sound strange but.... I've never known anyone to look "better, " in the hospital, as compared to the the last time I saw them. In Susan's (Hug's) case it was June when John and Suzie were visiting.
Anyway; she was quite alert, doing a breathing treatment, color was good..... e'thing. Juanita; I think you've been a contributor to it in many ways over the months!
She's still got a chest tube in.They're still not sure what's totally going on other than they did do a CT scan the other day and there's no movement in one part of her lung. It wasn't clear what is/was going on. They're doing another scan tomorrow.
Juanita is apparently due in on Thurs, and her daughter tomorrow and she tells me she'll call to let us all know when she knows something so.... let's keep our fingers crossed and say a prayer that they can finally get to the bottom of this! It's been going on for awhile now..
So..... here;s hoping!

Thank you, Jackie. Prayers and hope continue. It is definitely comforting to know that you thought she looked and seemed better than in June, even under the current conditions. Poor Hugs. She sure has a good friend in Juanita and her family, though.

Jackie thank you and D for going in to see Sue. I know she really was glad you came. Just wanted to let everyone know that she has been moved from the step down ICU to a room on 6A. I talk to her on the phone at least twice a day; but they haven't done the new cat scan as yet. Me just being smart and trying to cheer her up, I told her that I'd bring my cat (Boots) in and let her walk up and down her and that would be a quick cat scan. Thank you everyone for the thoughts and prayers; I told Hugahusky(Sue) and she was very appreciative. Well I'd better get to work.

Hi Juanita~ thanks for the update. Good news to know she's moved out of ICU to a regular room. I think that was funny about the CAT scan and I'm sure Susan appreciated the humor. As for appreciating the prayers, I know all too well how much they meant to me when I was in hospital and I KNOW that they worked to get me healed and on my way home. And just knowing that people care enough means the world when you're feeling so down and out. We've a good family here for solid support and love.
As I said earlier, you are one great friend and Hugs is lucky and blessed to have you in her life.

Friday...... Spoke to Susan this morning in her room. Juanita had been on earlier but under Hus's ID; wasn't comfortable about posting. Anyway; she's looking into WiFi at the hopspital nwhen I talked with Hugs..... Well; they did a broncho y'day. Saw nothing. Did a CT as well; only thing showing was the area of the lung that's collapsed. They MAY be taking the chest tube out today since it appears it's not inflating anymore. It may in time, or it may never. Currently they have her on IV anti's and Pred. She's told them that they're not gonna be filling her up with meds then sending her home again.... (my kinda gal ) Another Dr was in today and is questioning the potential of asthma (beyond the COPD). In any event he tells her they'll get to the bottom of it. Here's hoping! So; it sounds like she may very well be in there for the weekend though there's a good possibility they may transfer her back to the other hospital. She's sounding good, and in good spirits, and.... she has her VG friend there (Juanita) with her. She wanted to pass along her thanks to you John for the shrine trip and for e'on'e thoughts and prayers. They mean a lot. Hopefully she (if she can get internet maybe) , or Juanita will be able to get on this evening if there's any updates. Continued prayers for you Susan...... Sarah's still there.....

Good news. I have a question: if the collapsed lung doesn't re-inflate, how does that affect the breathing? What will happen to that part of the lung?
Continued prayers for you, Susan. I do hope you get to move back to the hospital closer to home, though.

Good Evening Everyone, this is DD97(Juanita) I'm using Susan (Hugahusky) computer to give you all the next update on her. They have got her oxygen intake down from 5 on full mask to 2 with just the nose piece. They hope by tomorrow they will be able to take that off. The respiralogist (sp) was in this afternoon and told her that they want to run some test to get to the bottom of her breathing problem as they think it may have a lot to do with asthma and they want to make sure she is on all the right med before they send her home. Thank Heavens someone is finally listening to her. Later Dr. Harry don't know his last name(Lung Dr.} was in and told her told her how pleased he was with her oxygen stats and that he plans to do a procedure on Monday that will stick the lung to the chest cavity to prevent it from collapsing again. She is very pleased with this and her spirits are good. She went for 2 walks down the hall today; this is the first she has been out of bed since Monday, and her oxygen level stay between 93 and 94. Oh yes the chest tube is still in as this is how they will do the procedure on Monday.
Well I guess this is about it for today. Thanks again for the prays they sure have helped. You are the best and from my heart I Thank each and everyone of you.
Juanita

Thanks, Juanita. Talk about the best, YOU are the best friend Susan could ever have. God bless you both. I am glad she was able to get up and walk, that must have felt so good to get moving and out of the bed and room. I am glad this Dr. Harry seems to know what he's doing. Must make you both feel much more comfortable to know something is being done and not just waiting to see what's going to happen. Keep in touch! It's truly appreciated. Here's a big for both of you!
