Hi everyone. My mom finally got a decision from the insurance company and it couldn't be better news. They moved her to the rehab portion of the hospital where she has a private room and can continue the medications and rehab without leaving. It's all covered under her insurance so she doesn't need to fret about money right now. The nursing home would have been $300 per day. Now she can stay and recover and not think about getting out too fast just because she's racking up a big bill.
She just wanted to thank everyone and tell you she loves you all and is so grateful of the support you've given her. I'll keep you updated but that's the latest. She's had a great day today.

Thanks for keeping us informed on your moms condition. That should make her relax a little knowing that the insurance is looked after. Now she can just concentrate on her recovery. Tell her I still say a prayer for every single day. We miss her.

Sue's new room is large, bright and pleasant. There are only 3 patients in the hospital's rehab section, and she's getting excellent care. I was shocked to see her in her own clothes. She had therapy twice today, and while I was there they showed her how to get out of bed using her walker and transfer to the wheel chair. Then she went to the dining room for dinner. She is one happy camper. Prayers, please, that this continues.

Corrine and Ellen; thank you so much! Such great news!! I can tell you're both excited!
I was under the impression though that there was no Rehab area at the hospital she's in. I probably misunderstood or something.....
I know your family will sleep better tonight knowing that it's finally resolved and.... e'thing is moving forward!
Sue can now start working moving that body and working on on a happy dance and it sounds like she is! ;D

Jackie, I didn't realize that the Hospital had a rehab section either so I was surprised when she told me yesterday. I guess her doctor told her he didn't think she would qualify so she never considered it as an option. She should be there at least another two weeks and can focus on getting better one day at a time.

Sue, on occasion good things happen to good people. This is sure one odf those ocasions. It is all wonderful, private room good care and many folks in North America who love you and care for you. How many folks can say that. My prayer for you tro-night will be one of thanksgiving. Just lie back and absorb the love.

Thank you for the great news, it's so great to hear that the ins. co. came through and now Sue can heal with all the care she needs and not with the added stress of finances.
Sue, I am so very happy for your 'new' private room, with lots of care and attention. I bet even the food tastes better with company in the dining room. Take your time, learn how to move about easily and get stronger day by day. Keeping you in my prayers and very thankful that they have been answered for you. Luv ya hun.

Glad to hear you are receiving the care you need. Only thing that would be better is if you access to the web so you could be giving us your daily posts that we all miss. Take your time and get strong but hurry back.

Speaking of which, I hope Mert is taking good care of himself through all this. Must be very lonesome for him without his card playing partner. Thinking of him as well as Sue is doing everything she needs to do to get back home.

I spoke briefly with Sue last night (Thurs). She's really sounding good and upbeat! Well; she's pushing her own wheelchair now! She's determined she's going to get out of it and I know she will. And; you know how Sue feels about her hair.... well; the night nurse washed it for her last night. Anyone who's gone w/o a hair washing for a few weeks can appreciate how good that felt! She said she didn't know what it looked like yet (after the wash) but she didn't care. I don't blame her! She has; as they suspected, and she did too, another compression fracture in her back in the T6 area. That certainly explains her back pain. I mentioned before she's had to start using pain meds again. But; with that comes bowel problems soooo she's asked them to double or triple the med she takes to help her in that regard. They keep her busy; and I think she says she has rehab twice a day.... She was also asking about you all and sends her love.... As for Mert (her hubby) I spoke with him before they transferred Sue. He's doing O.K. but certainly wants her at home. All things in time. I meant to ask her about her computer or if they have WiFi there.... but I forgot. I'll probably talk to her again in a few days; maybe Ellen or Corrine will be posting before then. Lots of Love and Prayers continuing Miss Sunshine! It'll be nice when we hear the words..... "I'm Home!"

Sue's spirits are still good. There really isn't anything other than pain pills that they can give her for the fracture. That brings on a vicious cycle with her bowel problems.
I am bringing her spaghetti for lunch tomorrow from her favorite restaurant. that should cheer her up some. she does have her Kindle fire at the hospital now and has started reading some books.
