Good you are feeling better Darcy. Just think of what you would like to do with the money you save from quitting. I spend mine on getting my nails done and buying cool stuff for my grandkids. Glad to hear that you have slowed your smoking down Sandy even though it has to do with your breathing. It is so very difficult to quit. My husband still smokes and I still dream about smoking but I have to stay strong.

Hey, Darcy sorry you are having problems. I get that tightness & wheezing whenever the air is very bad or I have exposed my lungs to something I shouldn't have. Since it is continuing definately bring it up with your Dr. You just have to keep trying to quit smoking. They say it is as difficult as quiting heroin. i lost could of the times I tried to quit. I have been off them since 2011. I still dream about smoking though.

Thanks Al; my ENT tried to explain it to me but seeing it in black and white without all the big medical words helps it all make sense. Mine is also an old story to from a car accident back in the day. I am going to go to the therapy after the long weekend and see if it makes any difference. I will post what happens.

Daisy please get a new Dr. or at least get a referal to a pulmonary specialist. I had the same problem you did in the beginning. Unfortunately we have to insist on better care for ourselves or we won't get it. Good luck.

Thank Deborah, good to know that there might be groups out there doing this that I could join. I go to massage, physio and also do traction for my neck. I have been like this for years I had a bad car accident when my kids where little back in the early 90's. Vestibular is supposed to help balance as I get dizzy and sick to my stomach sometimes when the pain in my neck is bad. I will try it and see if it helps but I think most of the exercises are the same as what I do now.

Anyone had any experience with this? I am supposed to make an appointment and go for this because of my balance issues from my chronic neck pain. I just don't know if I can take any more exercises than the ones I am already doing. I suppose I can incorporate them with breathing in and out correctly. Sometimes I just get so sick of seeing specialists. I am almost done. I go back to my regualar doctor at the end of the month for a final diagnosis of whatever ails me and will be ailing me forever until that changes again. I am also going to buy some Nordic walking sticks and give those a try. Anyone out there using them? When I went back for the 3 month check up from pul rehab one of the gentleman there had bought them and says they are really helping make him stronger. I'm up for that.

Try asking your Docotor to prescribe or use silver nitrate sticks or paint you throat with that stuff they use on kids when they get it.

I agree with all of you I think the main reason is lack of education about COPD. I have just now started seeing ads for COPD meds on US TV. When my friends or family see it they ask about if that is what I have. It is almost like when people hear that you have COPD they shut off their ears and minds because 1-they don't understand it and 2-they figure just like you said we deserve it because we smoked not realizing that people who have never smoked get COPD too 3- most people just aren't very open minded

Great article for those who don't know about alternative ideas. I agree with all of you that you must check with your doctor first. I use a lot of those ideas along with my regular meds and find it very helpful.
